Thermal Shock Testing
At Environment Associates, our professional testing services are comprehensive and state-of-the-art. We test for susceptibility to temperature, humidity, vibrations, shock, fungus, water, and much more. One of these areas, thermal shock, is a very popular testing service. For product components that experience extreme changes in temperature, it's vital that they perform under pressure without jeopardizing the integrity of the product itself. The thermal shock process exposes the product being tested to both hot and cold environments, thus creating "shock" on the item. This test can cause rapid expansion or contraction depending on the construction of the product. This is the prime time for us to find out if there are design flaws or manufacturing weaknesses that might lessen the reliability of the product. There are several kinds of thermal shock processes, including liquid-to-liquid, air-to-air (or two-zone), and three-zone testing. Liquid-to-liquid thermal shock testing involves dipping the item in non-toxic, non-combustible, chemically inert, and low viscosity liquids that are each being maintained at a certain hot and cold temperature. Air-to-air testing involves transferring the item between two chambers held at varying hot and cold temperatures. Three-zone testing is the same, except the product is exposed to room temperature air before being transferred between chambers. To set up thermal shock testing for your products, contact one of our Southern California offices today. We can be reached at 818-709-0568 or 818-998-0653 in our LA County/Chatsworth offices.
